Enhanced User Management

Companies with multiple and/or large teams expect the user management capabilities of the services they use to support their organization structure.

Kay capabilities expected from an enterprise solution:

  • Users assigned roles - directly or via association to user groups that have been assigned roles
  • Access to resource (e.g., entire WKS workspaces, or WKS areas, like administration) controlled via user groups and user roles
  • Special management of Admins and Instance Owners - multiple admins, ownership transfer, etc.
  • User management API
  • Finely grained / custom user roles

At present, WKS lacks support for user groups, making user management in large organizations difficult.

WKS also does not allow downgrading of user roles - users promoted to Admins cannot be downgraded. This creates problems with managing users even in small teams that need to restrict the number of admins.

Why is it useful?
Who would benefit from this IDEA? As an enterprise customer IT admin, I will be able to manage the access to the service in an automated fashion, providing me with high efficiency and high security. As a WKS owner/administrator, I can manage multiple independent teams across our organization. As a WKS project manager, I can efficiently manage the WKS work and my team.
